What to expect

First time going for a massage treatment? Here's what to expect.

Prior to appointment

Please fill out the intake form prior to your treatment, this is your health history and general information. This is where you will be letting your therapist know what they are treating and any health conditions that might be effected by massage. Filling out intake forms online help us to physical distance and reduces the amount of items touched while at the clinic for your safety. If you wish for us to direct bill your insurance please see direct billing above as well, otherwise you will be asked to pay the full amount and we will provide you with a receipt to claim on your insurance.

Appointment

When you arrive come into the strip mall under our Transcona Massage Therapy sign you will see a set of chairs outside of our glass door, we are asking clients to wait here until their massage therapist is ready for them.

Once the room/reception area is sanitized and your therapist is ready for you they will bring you in, ask you to leave your shoes at the front and use our hand sanitizer or washroom to wash your hands.

Any paperwork that requires a signature will be given at this time and then your therapist will ask if you need to use the washroom or would like some water before they take you into the treatment room.

Once in the massage room therapist will ask questions to create a treatment plan with you and will answer any questions you may have. Your therapist will then leave the room to wash their hands and allow for you to undress to your comfort level in private, get on the massage table and under the sheets. You will be completely covered for the duration of the massage excluding only the part of the body that the therapist is working on at the time.

Pressure

Your therapist will communicate with you in regards to preferred pressure. All of our therapists are highly skilled in reading muscle tissue in both treatment and relaxation massages but we need you to tell us if pressure feels like too much or too little to you so that we can provide you the experience you are looking for. This being said our therapists have been extensively trained to know what is too much pressure for someones body and we reserve the right to deny deep tissue work if we deem it unfit for your body. Remember "no pain no gain" does not always apply.

Post Treatment

Once your session is over your therapist will let you know that they are stepping out of the room. Take your time when you are getting up off the massage table. You might feel a little light headed and your muscles will feel softer than they did when you got on the massage table. Be careful while getting dressed and when you are ready come back to the front desk. Your therapist will take payment from you at this time, give you any home care exercises or stretches that they think will compliment your treatment plan and offer you some water to take with you.

If you are driving yourself home we recommend having a bit of water in your car before driving home, allow time for your body and mind to bring the feeling of your massage treatment with you into your day.

For the remainder of the day after a massage we recommend hydrating as much as possible and having a snack/meal. Massage increases your lymphatic system and your digestion so you may feel a little hungry after treatment.

Rebooking

We recommend booking your next massage while you are at the clinic. Your therapist will give you a general timeframe on when they would like for you to come back, this is to make your treatment the most effective and get the most out of your massage. You can also rebook your next massage on our website with our online booking on our home page, the top of this page or our services page.

We look forward to seeing you,
